How EverDwell Tiny Homes Was Born: From Full-Time Ministry to Tiny Living
In 2017, after pastoring for over 20 years in Orlando and building homes, we knew it was time for a change. That shift would eventually lead us to launch EverDwell Tiny Homes, a company born from our own journey toward simplicity, connection, and intentional living.
Our kids were in high school or on the verge of it. We had been giving our all to the people and places we served—but we were missing the moments happening right under our roof. And we didn’t want to lose our kids in the business of life.
Then came the nudge—that unmistakable God-whisper that disrupts everything in the best way.
Sell the house. Sell the furniture. Lay it all down.
Buy a fifth wheel. Sit by a campfire instead of a TV. Chase sunsets in national parks. Make space for each other again.
So, we did the unthinkable. And we haven’t looked back.
We traveled full-time for several years, staying in places for weeks or even months at a time. Each stop was its own little world—its own pace, its own lesson. Some places we loved. Some we couldn’t wait to leave. But in every single place, we were home. Together.
We laughed a lot. We fought a little. We learned to be a family again. And somewhere along the way, we fell in love with tiny living.
I (Leah) still remember the moment someone came to buy our washer and dryer before we hit the road. I thought, “Dear Lord… I’ve never even been in a laundromat. What are we doing?!”
But we learned. We adapted. And there’s something so deeply right about getting back to the basics—relationally and materially. (Still not the best word, but you get it.)
We simplified. We slowed down. And we started dreaming.
What if we helped others find this rhythm too?
What if tiny homes could become a real path forward for people ready to downsize, simplify, and live more intentionally?
Over the campfires and across the highways, that dream kept growing. And in 2023, we landed in Colorado Springs—a place that feels like it was waiting for us all along. Mountains, trails, a rich community—it’s home now. And it’s where EverDwell Tiny Homes was born.
